ICYMI: For the week ending 4-14-2018

In Case You Missed It: Secret Wars Film? Titans come to Life! Goku like we’ve NEVER seen him! NEW Deadpool 2 posters! and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. gets an Ominous Season Finale Title!

News from the world of Comics and Entertainment you might have missed this week!

The Russo’s want to have a SECRET WAR!

In an interview with the French publication, Linternaute, Joe Russo states, “If that Fox deal goes through with Disney, there’s a lot more characters to work with all of a sudden. It would be interesting to do something like ‘Secret Wars…’”

The publication does not reveal which Secret Wars is being referred to as the name has been used twice for 2 character and universe-spanning events (originally in 1984 by Jim Shooter, Mike Zeck, and Bob Layton, and in 2015 with Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribić).

Titans, in the Flesh!

Recently, on-set photos appeared online of the cast of DC’s upcoming live-action Titans series.

The reaction seems to be mixed, but the production seems to be moving right along filming episode 9 in these photos. No official premiere date for the series has been announced but it will debut on DC’s new streaming service, which also has yet to reveal it’s launch date.

Titans stars Brenton Thwaites as Dick Grayson, Anna Diop as Starfire, Teagan Croft as Raven, Ryan Potter as Beast Boy, Alan Ritchson as Hawk, Minka Kelly as Dove and Lindsey Gort as Amy Rohrbach.

Goku goes Classic Disney and gets some love from Jim Lee!

A Dragon Ball Super Illustrator posted this image to Twitter:

The style harkens back to the Disney Golden Age of character design. Artist and DC Comics Co-Publisher Jim Lee recently posted his first ever sketch of Goku on his Twitter:

Goku was created back in 1984 by Akira Toriyama.
Almost there!

20th Century Fox released three International posters for the upcoming Deadpool 2.

Ryan Reynolds returns as the Merc with a Mouth, this time joined by Zazie Beetz as the luck-manipulating mutant Domino and Josh Brolin as Cable, the time-traveling son of the X-Men’s Cyclops. Returning from the smash hit debut film include Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, and Stefan Kapicic as the voice of Colossus.

Deadpool 2 arrives in theaters May 18th.

Say it ain’t so, Coulson!

And finally, we come to The End. No, LITERALLY!

This week, Spoiler TV posted the title of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s season 5 finale simply as, “The End.” Although nothing else was specified, viewers are well aware that Coulson is living on borrowed time, as well as several other plots involving impending doom.

Showrunners Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen approached the finale as if it were the series finale. Ratings have declined for the series, though mostly due to a timeslot move to the graveyard of network television that is, Friday Night. The writing and overall quality of the show (minus the pesky special effects budget) have improved, and the fanbase is loyal. With The Inhumans not returning, AoS is ABC’s only link to the MCU juggernaut. It would do them well to return the show to a better time slot, find a way to integrate it back into the MCU (which they did quite well in the past, only to cut ties with the Studios arm of Marvel, to spite Ike Perlmutter. So now that we know Clark Gregg appears as Coulson in the upcoming Captain Marvel, c’mon Marvel TV!
