BOOM! Studios has announced that CODA #1, beginning a new twelve-issue series from Eisner-nominated writer Simon Spurrier (Sandman, The Spire) and Matías Bergara (Cannibal, Supergirl), has sold out at a distributor level one day before the issue goes on sale at comic shops.
To meet the demand, CODA #1 SECOND PRINTING VARIANT will arrive in stores on June 13, with an all-new cover by Jakub Rebelka (Judas) and alongside Coda #2. This oversized debut issue, with 40 pages of story content and additional backmatter, arrives at the same $3.99 price point as each issue of this twelve-issue series.
CODA reveals the aftermath of an apocalypse which wiped out nearly all magic from a once-wondrous fantasy world, in which an antisocial former bard named Hum seeks a way to save the soul of his wife with nothing but a foul-tempered mutant unicorn and his wits to protect him…but is unwillingly drawn into a brutal power struggle which will decide forever who rules the weird wasteland.
“Once we got a peek at the insane alchemy Si and Matías were working up together, we knew we had something special with CODA,” said Eric Harburn, Editor, BOOM! Studios. “The incredible response to this issue, before it even arrives in stores, is a testament to the fantastic world they’ve built and to the power of original concepts in the comic book market.”
CODA #1 is the latest release from BOOM! Studios’ eponymous imprint, home to a world-class group of licensed comic book series and ambitious original series, including Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Planet of the Apes, WWE, Abbott, Mech Cadet Yu, Klaus and Grass Kings, which was recently nominated for two 2018 Eisner Awards.
Print copies of CODA #1 were available yesterday for sale on May 2, 2018, at local comic book shops (use comicshoplocator.com to find the nearest one) or at the BOOM! Studios webstore, though quantities may be limited. Digital copies can be purchased from content providers, including comiXology, iBooks, Google Play, and the BOOM! Studios app.
