Castlevania’s 2nd season is set to air in what is expected to be potentially a matter of weeks according to series writer Warren Ellis but in a fascinating and unexpected move, Netflix has ordered a complete 3rd season of the volume before the season 2 premiere.
Such a strong move is rare in the ratings in renewal business but voice actor Richard Armitage, who voices Trevor Belmont has stated to press that the cast is set to begin recording series 3 very soon.
The first season composed of just 4 short episodes received wide acclaim by viewers who petitioned Netflix and production company Powerhouse Animation Studios for more. On the same day after it’s arrival in July 2017, Netflix announced that it would indeed order a second season.
The turn of events for Castlevania is indeed unusual as the series was caught in production hell beginning in 2007 and lasting for 8 years before the anime was greenlit.
Based on the 1989 Nintendo Game Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, The anime is set in 1476, with Europe under the control of Dracula. Trevor Belmont, desperate to break his hold on the land joins the sorceress Sypha Belnades, and Dracula’s own half-vampire son, Alucard.
