In a press release announcing the graphic novel, creator Alexis Vivallo, had the following to say about the project:
“I’ve dreamed of sharing the Pi-Rats’ world for years,” said Vivallo. “Seeing readers follow José, Miguel, and the Captain through danger and discovery—and watching their trust in each other carry them through—has been incredibly rewarding.”
