Oni Press – the multiple Eisner and Harvey Award-winning publisher of groundbreaking comics and graphic novels since 1997 – is unveiling a new logo and company icon ahead of New York Comic Con. The new logo – designed by multiple Eisner Award nominee Patrick Crotty, who was recently nominated for both an Eisner Award and Ringo Award for his design for Bryan Lee O’Malley’s Scott Pilgrim 20th Anniversary Hardcover Box Sets – will debut in November on Crownsville #1, the first issue of the highly anticipated, supernatural thriller from Peabody Award-winning screenwriter, producer and acclaimed comic writer Rodney Barnes and stunning artist Elia Bonetti.
Oni Press has used two primary logos since the company was first founded by Joe Nozemack and Bob Schreck in 1997. The original logo was designed by Dave Gibbons, the award-winning co-creator of Watchmen and appeared on classic Oni Press comics including Clerks: The Comic Book by Kevin Smith & Jim Mahfood and the Oni Double Feature anthology. The second Oni Press logo was designed by art director Keith A. Wood and introduced in 2012, subsequently adorning more than a decade of iconic and influential creator-owned series from Cullen Bunn & Brian Hurtt’s The Sixth Gun through Christopher Cantwell & Tyler Crook’s Out of Alcatraz, which arrives in hardcover on October 22nd.
Commented David Steward II, Chairman of the Oni-Lion Forge Publishing Group and CEO of Polarity, Oni’s parent company:
“We’ve been blessed to celebrate a great number of successes at Oni Press in recent years, but our mission remains the same: to work hand-in-hand with incredibly talented creators to tell stories that reflect our modern moment through the ever-powerful lens of comics. Now, as Oni prepares to reach even greater heights ahead in the months and years to come, it’s the perfect time to refresh the company’s footprint in comic shops and bookstores with an aesthetic that’s every bit as bright and bold as the stories we put onto the page.”
Editor in Chief, Sierra Hahn:
“It’s an exhilarating time to be publishing comics under the Oni Press banner. Our first giant-sized Adventure Time special by Eisner Award winner Caroline Cash just hit stands. The first issue of High Strangeness – our new collaboration with SpectreVision from creators including Chris Condon, Dave Chisholm, and more – begins this week. We’re sending some of our most anticipated graphic novels of 2026 – including First Freedom: The Story of Opal Lee and Juneteenth – to the printer in the next few days. And we’re in the midst of major new initiatives like the expansion of the EC Comics line with Outlaw Showdown, the imminent return of Cult of the Lamb, and the upcoming debut of Murder Drones, adapted from the hit animated series from Glitch Productions. Simultaneously, we’re deep into plotting and planning our next major wave of creator-owned comics and graphic novels with familiar faces and surprise talents alike – several of which you’ll hear about this week at New York Comic Con. Ambitious, art-forward, and high energy – we wanted our new logo to reflect the same captivating qualities we aspire to deliver with our comics, and we are so pleased to finally share the results.”
More news on the publisher’s upcoming releases will be revealed during New York Comic-Con 2025 at the “Oni Press: The Loudest Thing in Color” panel presentation on Friday, October 10th at 3:30 pm with a star-studded cast of Oni’s upstart creators past, present, and future – including Rodney Barnes (Crownsville), Mat Heagerty (Indoor Kid), Matt Kindt (EC’s Catacomb of Torment), George Northy (Yuletide), Adam Syzm (Little Visitor & Other Abductions), and more.
