A long time ago (last month), in a glaxy far away (Boston), I decided I should make a new book of dicks. Specifically, ones that looked a lot like characters from a popular sci-fi franchise.

Shrubis an 8-issue, middle grade Graphic Medicine series that explores the various ways that we allow grief to “take root,” inspired by Emmy Award-nominated writer Shane Portman’s experience with the loss of his father.

GLAAD Award-winning publisher and media outlet Fanbase Press is launching its latest Kickstarter campaign to fund the collected trade paperback of the Shrub series, featuring contributions from leading comics and mental health voices, including a foreword by Eisner Award-winning writer David F. Welcome to the GIANT SIZED Kanin The Marauder #1 Kickstarter! It’s been a long road to get here! Starting in December 2025 we launched a new Kickstarter every SIX weeks! Kanin The Marauder #1-4 were launched and funded and were fulfilled without mistakes or delay continuously through May!

Now it’s time to do something different! We want to put out the next Kanin adventure PLUS add a bunch of short stories and pinups, sorta like the Yearbooks and Annuals we grew up reading!
