Captain Marvel #19: Everything Ends Eventually

By Guest AuthorAugust 27, 2020Leave a comment

Captain Marvel #19

Ultimately, Captain Marvel #19 (Thompson, Smith, Di Benedetto, Bonvillain, Cowles) is a bit of a let down. It’s cool to see Carol coming into contact with her half sister and even having a chance to establish some sort of relationship, but it lacks depth and intrigue to stand out as anything other than an obligatory tie-in to an already lackluster event.

By Gabriel De JesusAugust 26, 2020Leave a comment

X-Factor #2

Leah Williams, David Baldeon, and Israel Silva bring their A-game to X-Factor #2. They make a comic that is equal part heart and humor and an all-around pleasure to read.

X-Men #11: Vegicide

By Bethany W PopeAugust 26, 2020Leave a comment

X-Men #11

X-Men #11 (Hickman, Yu, Gracia) is a fun book, and an excellent study of Magneto as a leader, and a Hero, for the world.

Amazing Spider-Man #47: You Won’t Believe What Your Dad Did

By Jimmy HayesAugust 26, 2020Leave a comment

Amazing Spider-Man #47

Amazing Spider-Man #47 (Spencer, Ferreira, Poggi, Curiel, Caramagna) crams 40 pages of comic book into 24 pages, but it’s really good. There’s more super-villaining than you can handle!!

THE IMMORTAL HULK #36: Just a Blip

By Tom CanigliaAugust 25, 2020Leave a comment

Immortal Hulk #36

Immortal Hulk #36 (Ewing, Bennet) feels like a filler issue, a side-effect of writing for the trade. Still a cut above the standard issue these days, but hard to appreciate in its own right.

Conan: Battle for the Serpent Crown #4

Conan: Battle for the Serpent Crown #4’s (Ahmed, Ross, Woodard, Lanham) overall plot might be getting a little stale at this point, but the writing and art elevate it into a story worth reading.

Batman: Three Jokers #1 (of 3)

After four years’ wait, Batman: Three Jokers #1 (@geoffjohns, @JasonFabok, @bdanderson13) is at last upon us. Despite any owed skepticism due to its extreme tardiness, this is a perfect, masterpiece of a comic. DO NOT MISS IT.
