Lost Song: A Song We Have Forgotten

Rin lives in a small village with her grandfather Talgia, and siblings, Al and Mel, her dreams is to sing in the Capital with Royal Orchestra. However, Talgia refuses for her to ever sing, such a Footloose mood in beginning, while the story progresses. We learn that Rin is what they call a Songstress, a rare person to come by and only a handful of people have this power. One of them being Finis, a clumsy woman that has been held captive because of her power. The Prince of the Capital is forcing her to use her power in the war that has come to pass, causing her life to be in danger as Finis power starts to slowly deteriorate. As a knight named Henry Leobort comes in to try and protect Finis, all three of their lives are entangled together while the anime continues. Their stories, while separate, slowly start to form until all three come together and that is when the story really begins. The characters all have their own backstories and they all have something to give: courage, hope, and even despair. All this in one anime that at first looked so goofy to me that I didn’t think twice about it. Until you actually do sit down and see that it isn’t just about a song, but the stories behind that very song that was lost.

The opening song is called “If I Sing, You Will Be There” by Konomi Suzuki, the opening style is surrounded by the two songstresses that are the center of the anime. Both showing what they both had to go through to survive and the friends they have made along the way. The song is fun and very bouncy for the anime, showing the smiles and the rhythm of the song and the anime characters. The ending song is called “Tears Echo” by Yukari Tamura. The ending song is a slower song, we see Finis standing on the platform watching the moon as the wind breezes around her. It shifts with her love and admiration towards one of the knights that we see. The ending seems to be dedicated to the both of them as it continues, it is a short song and doesn’t seem to give much other room to interpret other than the few pictures we see.
