Blade

Recap
The night is always filled with shadows and mystery. Things that go bump in the night, and this is the case for vampires. But what happens when vampires fear a single Daywalker? A man with a vendetta against them all. Searching for answers that have been left hanging in the darkness. A man name Blade.
Review
Blade is a renowned antihero that has been around since 1973, making their first appearance in the comic The Tomb of Dracula #10. Through the years, we have learned much more about Blade and his past, along with kicking down doors and killing vampires. With four movies, one TV show, and many comics about the Daywalker. However, we are now stepping into the world of anime, one that has brought forward in the name of Marvel Anime.
Diving into a world retold in anime form has been interesting, at the very least. While the animation style is a bit hard to get through, the story and voices really ground themselves during the anime. The pacing during the anime allowed the story to be told and brought forth such an intricate part of the plot. The action was actually very nice to see how their bodies moved and how fluid they were during fight scenes. This really showed the gritter side of things for Blade and those that fight alongside him. And sometimes against him, the actions they take and the way they talk at times too.
Sarcasm and one liners are always the pull that everyone enjoys when it comes to an anime like this. The opening of an introduction for Blade with the sultry saxophone will be hands down one of my favorite intros now. The orchestra for the ending keeps the temp of the anime. The instruments that call out a softer memory, but then the loudness of the trumpets signaling the danger that lurks around the corner.
The voice actor that plays Blade is Harold Perrineau (Lost) is also an actor that has played in many roles. Including one of my favorites in The Rookie as Det. Nick Armstrong. Deacon Frost is Blade’s nemesis, Blade is looking to get revenge for Frost killing his mother. Deacon is voiced by JB Blanc who is famously known for voicing Vander/Warwick in Arcane. While Makoto a girl who is fighting alongside her dad to bring down the vampire society is voiced by Kim Mai Guest. She has roles upon roles of extending her voice to video games including World of Warcraft. They really bring the emotions and pace of the characters to life during the anime.
Final Thoughts
Blade does give suspense, really hitting the notes in the anime. Yet with the animation style used. It can be tough to get through at times, bit hard on the eyes for me. The bone of the plot is still there, and the voice actors did such a solid job in keeping the story and emotions going. This allows the world of Blade to come to life in a different median.
