Review

“Was I able to live inside your heart? Do you think you’ll remember me at least a little? You’d better not hit “reset!” Don’t forget me, okay? That’s a promise, okay? I’m glad it’s you, after all. Will I reach you? I hope I can reach you.”

Have you ever watched an anime and thought, “Wait, why am I crying?” “Why is this story so freaking beautiful?” Your Lie in April is such an anime with a good combination of inspiring musical premise and romantic touch in the end. It leaves you completely speechless by the end, and you’ll never forget the anime in your life, ever.

Why’s “Your Lie in April” a Masterpiece?

While there are many romance anime out there with sad endings and heartbreaking moments, Your Lie in April stays apart from them. You see how life can change if the right person decides to interfere. You can feel the characters’ pain and hardships they’ve faced and the power of music that can shake our souls.

The story was very simple yet undeniably beautiful and heart-touching. It moves at a slow pace, but you’ll be loving the characters so much that you wouldn’t care about the plot at all. It is a slow-burn drama, so the plot plays little to no role in hooking you up, but it is worth it for what it is.

The characters were everything. Especially, Kaoru is the best girl who will imprint herself in your heart. Throughout the episodes, you face an obsession with these characters, and you want them to have a happy life. It’s just that they connect so much as if they are not fictional but real ones.

Your Lie in April’s animation can be described in one word: “Pretty.” The vibrant colors dominate everything and give you a pleasant feeling for your eyes. The environment was lighthearted, so they had to use smooth and delicate visuals. Well, A-1 Pictures nailed it, though.

Here comes the best aspect of the show: The Music. The original soundtracks in the movie are Euphonious to hear, and you can listen to them forever. Especially, “Again” and “Yuujin A” are two unforgettable OSTs that gave life to the anime. Since the show is purely based on the music theme, it elevates every scene.

Overall, Your Lie in April comes with a cliche plot, but the execution is just unbelievable. It excels in every aspect except humor. Who needs humor when you’re sobbing like a child anyway? If an anime is considered a masterpiece when it reaches a certain caliber, Your Lie in April would easily be qualified as one.

Final Thoughts

Do you love romance? Watch it. Are you sick of your life? Watch it. If you think there is no happiness in your life or if you want to shed a few tears, watch it. This anime actually gives a reason for people to watch it instead of just for entertainment. Your Lie in April is not just an anime but a story that influenced my life and many people's lives worldwide. It is a must-watch and an inspirational masterpiece!
