The casting of this film is amazing, with several Oscar winners and box office draws. But this isn’t “that” type of science fiction movie. This is not Deep Impact or Armageddon. This is a satirical comedy looking at our government, with some very subtle and not so subtle caricatures of people in our current political system.

Robert Brian Wilson was a great choice for the lead, he was very handsome and wholesome looking, with a kind and welcoming smile. But once he breaks, all warmth erodes away leaving only a vacant haunting emptiness in his eyes.

The very title brings up the contrast between the blood red and the pure snow, which cold symbolize the very relationship of the main characters. Olivia’s purity and zany personality vs. Luke’s more reserved edge and excitement.

It could have been a very hard-hitting emotional story that would have left me in tears, both from laughter and the very sadness of the situation. The problem is none of the main characters are very likeable. They are all self-absorbed, snobbish and a bit bitchy. #SilentNight
