Don’t Look Up: To Close for Comfort

MoviesBy Rob PriceDecember 26, 2021Leave a comment

Don’t Look Up

The casting of this film is amazing, with several Oscar winners and box office draws. But this isn’t “that” type of science fiction movie. This is not Deep Impact or Armageddon. This is a satirical comedy looking at our government, with some very subtle and not so subtle caricatures of people in our current political system.

Scary Little Christmas: Krampus-You Better Watch Out

MoviesBy Rob PriceDecember 24, 2021Leave a comment

Krampus (2015)

This is a horror movie with a conscience and a lesson to learn.  Most horror movies are morality tales, but this one, in particular, attempt to remind us not to lose the hope in our hearts and retain that magic that comes with the season.

The Matrix Resurrections – Take the Blue Pill!

MoviesBy Rob PriceDecember 23, 2021Leave a comment

The Matrix Resurrections

The storyline is interesting, and some aspects of the plot are intriguing and thought provoking, but the script felt convoluted and pretentious. Like a movie that wants to be “deep” but in reality, is shallow, with a lot of glitter on the surface.

Scary Little Christmas: A Christmas Carol (2020)- An Old Tale Told in Dance!

A Christmas Carol (2020)

This gives the impression of a ghostly dream gracefully playing before our eyes. It is extremely theatrical and a bold choice for todays audiences.

Movies, Television ShowsBy Mike SpringDecember 21, 2021Leave a comment

Bond is back, baby! (Oh yeah, and a bunch of other films, too.) One quick note, there are a couple of releases included this week that don’t street until December 28th (I’ve marked them accordingly) as there will be no new column next week. Enjoy!

Antlers: Hunger of the Wendigo

MoviesBy Rob PriceDecember 19, 2021Leave a comment

Antlers

…the film is also overwhelmingly depressing.  A film needs a balance of highs and lows, comedy and drama, light and dark.  This movie is all lows, drama and dark.

Scary Little Christmas: Silent Night, Deadly Night– Have You Been Good?

MoviesBy Rob PriceDecember 18, 2021Leave a comment

Silent Night, Deadly Night

Robert Brian Wilson was a great choice for the lead, he was very handsome and wholesome looking, with a kind and welcoming smile. But once he breaks, all warmth erodes away leaving only a vacant haunting emptiness in his eyes.

Spider-Man No Way Home: A Dynamic Movie About Second Chances

MoviesBy Sean WinninghamDecember 17, 2021Leave a comment

Spider-Man: No Way Home

Spider-Man: No Way Home is for all Marvel fans but is especially for those who grew up with the pre-MCU Spider-Man films. This is a personal fan appreciation film from Marvel and Sony for those who have been with the Spider-Man films since the Raimi/Maguire saga.

Scary Little Christmas: Red Snow (2021)- A Batty Christmas

MoviesBy Rob PriceDecember 12, 2021Leave a comment

Red Snow

The very title brings up the contrast between the blood red and the pure snow, which cold symbolize the very relationship of the main characters.  Olivia’s purity and zany personality vs. Luke’s more reserved edge and excitement.

What’s New on Home Video – December 7th – Malignant, Krampus, Clint Eastwood, Creepshow, and More!

Movies, Television ShowsBy Mike SpringDecember 7, 2021Leave a comment

It’s a smaller release slate this week, and with two horror movies leading the charge it feels more like an October release drop than a December one! Check out what’s on shelves this week:

Scary Little Christmas: Silent Night (2021) – Shepherds Quake at the Sight

MoviesBy Rob PriceDecember 4, 2021Leave a comment

Silent Night (2021)

It could have been a very hard-hitting emotional story that would have left me in tears, both from laughter and the very sadness of the situation.  The problem is none of the main characters are very likeable.  They are all self-absorbed, snobbish and a bit bitchy. #SilentNight
