Dinah investigates one suspect on her list of Absolute DC archers only to uncover one of Oliver’s secrets in Absolute Green Arrow #2
Review
Absolute Green Arrow #2 continues to follow Dinah as she, along with Meryln, search for answers of who is behind the mask of the spectral Green Arrow. Right from the first page, writer Pornsak PIchetshote wastes no time showing the mental stress that Dinah is under and the current news surrounding the murders and attempt on Hector Hammond that have already taken place last issue. This is a nice way to recap the events without disrupting the larger narrative with a ton of exposition.
Readers begin to really get into Dinah’s world and the conflict she finds herself in being in the employ of Hammond. The larger Arrow family is introduced starting with Mia Dearden, who in this world was not only an adoptee of Oliver, but was one of the top programmers in the GreenArrow Tech company. In the flashback scene explaining the falling out between her and Ollie, Mia, the company’s top programmer, is shown to have more moral compass than her adoptive father/boss, not taking action against Jubal and his Jeffrey Epstein-esque activities.
It is also revealed that in this universe, Oliver is a father to Conner Hawke, who Dinah had promised to protect, is introduced and subsequently [REDACTED]. The issue begins on a cliffhanger teasing Roy Harper, who is digging up Oliver’s grave, leaving Tom Hallaway, The Spider, as the only suspect left on Dinah’s list, although it would not surprise if it somehow turns out to be Merlyn in the suit. The visual clues on the panel could also suggest some connections to the Absolute Universe’s Philip Reardon aka Ten-Eyed Man or the experiments that created him.
Final Thoughts
Absolute Green Arrow #2 continues to build the mystery around the Absolute archer while introducing the members of the Absolute Arrow family and pacing the story in a way that it does not get bogged down or feel rushed.
