In the aftermath of Amanda Waller's total victory, the metahumans of the DC universe have been depowered, scattered to the wind, and are reeling from critical defeat across the planet. But the resistance lives on. Review
Absolute Power is only two issues in but it already feels special. This has been an exciting summer for DC fans with huge things coming soon stemming from this event, but Absolute Power shouldn’t be viewed as just a primer for what’s to come. Mark Waid and Dan Mora are the perfect team to be spearheading this event. Mora has quickly become one of the best and most exciting artists working today. Alejandro Sanchez works absolute magic with Mora’s pencils making them feel cinematic. This issue is packed with so many characters and Mora seems to give them all equal attention and detail which is something that is greatly appreciated.
Dan Mora’s attention to detail and Mark Waid’s masterful writing shine brilliantly in this issue of Absolute Power. It seems that so many characters get their moment to shine, which is always welcomed in a book with so many characters. If these moments ever make it to the big screen they would no doubt earn some in-theater clapping and cheering. Mora has proven himself to handle a huge cast of characters. There are obvious main players in this series but Mora truly seems to put the same effort into every character regardless of how much they are in this issue. This issue deals with an assault on the Fortress of Solitude and the entire issue feels like the climax of an epic saga despite things just getting started. This creative team is setting the stage for something monumental, and it’s only just begun.
Final Thoughts
This is an incredibly exciting time in the DC Universe and Mark Waid and Dan Mora continue to be an unstoppable force of creative brilliance. The addition of both Alejandro Sanchez and Ariana Maher elevates the writing and art to really sell the idea that this is the start of something big.
