At its finest, Adler #1 (Lavie Tidhar, Paul McCaffrey) is a delightful penny-dreadful inspired by Victorian fiction. Yet, an unbalanced narrative and “same face syndrome” may make you wish you’d read the books that inspired it instead. For now, Adler’s biggest mystery is what anyone should expect from it.
