Review
I am so happy Archer and Armstrong are back, and once again another strong issue. This issue is way faster paced than the first issue, but every bit as enjoyable. Foxe is once again bringing funny back to Valiant, not only that but we get some amazing references, hilarious quotes and we get to see much more of the Valiant Universe.
The pacing of the dialogue and panels are excellent, and seeing Archer’s amazing fighting powers again is some of the best parts of the comic. Without spoilers, let’s just say Archer can dance! I love it! Foxe is using what Valiant is giving him, and using it very well. Every fight scene is great, and every moment of comedy timed perfectly. I just can’t get over how glad I am to see something funny again. It’s very refreshing.
The art by Fiorito is smooth, some of the best art Valiant has had. They draw the fight scenes as sharp or flowy as needed, depending on the moves Archer uses. The way they draw things like melting flesh is amazingly gory and fun! We get a glimpse of a new villain that I am excited for, and thanks to the art we see how freaking creepy they are! So thanks for that Fiorito! The colors and textures by Alex definitely add to that, Alex colors everything just perfectly, from the creepy tongue to a snowy mountain top. This issue jumps all over the world, so Fiorito and Alex really get to stretch their talents here.
Final Thoughts
I’m really looking forward to seeing more Archer and Armstrong from this team! It is building up to be a fun adventure with amazing villains. Foxe is proving himself to be one of the best Archer and Armstrong writers! Every issue grows in humor and action.
