Recap

Aliens Dust to Dust ends with an action packed issue that wraps up the story decently but honestly left me wanting more. Maxon makes his way to an escape shuttle with the help of a synthetic and Sinta. Everything ends in a convenient relatively happy ending.

Review

I didn’t hate this issue but there are some plot holes. When the “Max’s mom” xeno attacks him and Sinta knocks it down and they run through this thing and up an elevator shaft, Max jumps into a totally different building, and it’s there to attack the queen! What the what is that? I also thought it was really nice of the horde of Xenos to wait for Maxon to swing back around before going after Sinta at the end, which Maxon somehow beat to the top of the ladder despite climbing one handed with the synthetic in the other hand. The very act of Max being able to hover above the building close enough for Sinta to comfortably hop in bothers me greatly. Not to mention Max walking through a room full of eggs and a queen completely 100% unscathed in what has to be the easiest getaway in Alien history. Part of my issue may be with the massive delay between issues 3 and 4, this 4 issue miniseries has taken almost exactly 9 months to come out, with the previous issue coming out in October. I might need to read the entire series in one sitting to get a better feel for this issue, my gut reaction feels overly negative it isn’t a bad issue.

The miniseries as a whole was pretty good actually I’d recommend it for the trade crowd my problems with this issue are pretty eclipsed by my great enjoyment of the first 3. Nothing is really damning just some moments that took me out of the story a little.

I did like the art a lot, Hardman nails the look and feel of the xenomorphs which is a big part of a good Aliens mini. I really like the way he draws tech and vehicles also his art is so detailed I really love it for this title. It is really impressive how insanely dark some of the panels get without losing that detail, like the splash picture below it could easily be a muddy mess but it looks great!

Final Thoughts

I would recommend this miniseries as a whole via trade or if you've been collecting, but this particular issue is really the weak point of the series.
