Amazing Fantasy #1
Kaare Kyle Andrews brings his unique artistry back to Marvel for what is a very pleasant surprise with the revival of the age-old Amazing Fantasy series!
If like me you don’t militantly keep up with Previews, then Amazing Fantasy would have slipped by your radar as quickly and stealthily as it did mine. But let me tell you this, you’re in for a treat and if you haven’t already picked this up. It’s time you paid a visit to your favorite offline or online comics merchant to pick up a copy.
Kaare Andrews has always delivered a very unique flare with his one-of-kind art style and strong story telling (highly recommend his run on Iron Fist!) and Amazing Fantasy delivers on the promise of it’s creator.
An unexpected tale that sees your favourite marvel superheroes (Captain America, Black Widow and Spider-Man) suddenly transported from their various timelines into a wonderful, dangerous and fantastical world of Chimera’s, War Lord’s and Kings.
It’s an easy read and the art is a delight. I certainly wouldn’t have read a copy if it wasn’t for being assigned this review, am I allowed to say I am thankful to our wonderful ComicWatch editors for bringing this book to light? [Yes… you’re welcome! – ed.]
If you are a fan of the Conan comics or the more fantasy themed Marvel books such as Thor or Doctor Strange, then Amazing Fantasy is definitely for you. From it's cover homage to classic fantasy novels you tend to find frayed and yellowed at the back of a secondhand book store to the longhaired muscled men and the half bird/half horse beasts it's one heck of a journey.
