Recap

Review

Let me just warn you a little bit. This isn’t an issue to read half-assed. Don’t read it while you’re tired or trying to watch a TV show. This one needs your focus because there’s a LOT of stuff to chew on here. Again, author Nick Spencer has packed this issue with a ton of story and drama, and maybe not enough humor, but hey, if he wants to get down and dirty for a couple of issues, that’s fine. The story of Sin-Eater and his quest to make a sin-free world continues, and this month he’s got a recruiting drive in full swing. There are parts of this issue that actually scared me because it resembles a little too much like the world outside our windows. Aside from that, this one is a deep, DEEP dive into Spider-Man supporting character history. Get those Google machines ready! It’s a pretty great issue with an awesome cliffhanger ending. There’s a lot to love about this one, just be ready, this isn’t a five-minute read.

When it comes to art, it’s pretty much as thick as the story. I can only describe artist Marcelo Ferreira’s work as “heavy.” It’s very dark and moody, with an almost Mike Deodato vibe to it. It’s good, don’t get me wrong, but there’s a lot to look at in each panel, and colorist David Curiel has made some… interesting choices. Maybe not some of the choices that I would’ve made, but I really feel that if had maybe used colors that were a little brighter and bolder it wouldn’t be such a shock to your eyes when you compare previous issues to this one.

Final Thoughts

Great story, but I wish the art and color were kicked up a notch. It would've helped so much.
