Recap

LAST REMAINS TIE-IN!

Another classic Spider-Man villain gets pulled into the most soul-shaking Spider-Man story ever. You won't believe what you read, and it will break your heart.

Review

The “Last Remains” story rages on in this issue. By Nick Spencer & Matthew Rosenberg, this story catches up with Spider-Man’s homies as they travel to other dimensions trying to find Peter Parker before Kindred gets hold of his soul. Accompanied by Dr. Strange, they end up in another dimension that Peter once visited, and unfortunately, he left a great big mess. This issue kind of pulls the shade up on the effects that Peter has made during his life and honestly, they’re not that great. Sure, he always tries to be the hero, but that Parker Luck is always with him, unfortunately. For me, the highlight of this issue is the death (hopefully! Please God!!!) of one of Spider-Man’s villains that I’ve always hated and no, I’m not going to spoil it for you. As with the rest of these “LR” issues, this one tells the “between the panels” story and again, these issues are all really relevant. You’re not going to put down this issue disappointed.

Federico Vicentini Is joined this issue by Takeshi Miyazawa. Now, I was a huge fan of Vicentini on Falcon & The Winter Soldier (issue #5 out now!) and I still think he’s really good and going to be a big star in a little while. However, the transition from Vicentini to Miyazawa is pretty jarring. I wish they would’ve been able to work together on a couple of pages instead of changing artists mid-book. On the whole, the art is good, but not great. One thing that has impressed me about this story is that they give these issues the same priority as the main book, but I don’t get that feeling here. Hopefully, that’ll be corrected soon.

Final Thoughts

The wow needle is at 4 out of 10. I'm sorry, but the art just really took the excitement out of it for me. If it would've been consistent, it would've been a different story. It gets the job done, but that's about it.
