Ant-Man & the Wasp # 5
Recap
Ant-Man, Wasp, and Dalen find themselves staring at a small Earth. Nadia realizes that it is a beacon to get them home. They try to shrink into it, but it only works for Dalen. They find out that the have become entangled. Scott can control Nadia’s shrinking and growth, and vice versa. Also, they have become entangled mentally as well, with each other’s memories getting jumbled in their heads.
Now, that they know how to control their powers, they enter the beacon and go through several strange realms of subatomica. They finally make it back to earth, but they are still entangled. The heroes go to Nadia’s lab where they expect to find someone had set the beacon for them. But the beacon had not been activated. Nadia works tirelessly to unentangle them. When they try it nearly rips space/time. Scott, now endowed with Nadia’s intelligence figures out that entanglement goes forwards and backward in time. They turn on the beacon, and it closes the entanglement loop.
A few weeks later, Nadia and Scott meet up at a baseball game, and they compare notes. They decide the entanglement is completely gone. Then Scott gets hit on the head by a baseball and Nadia feels his pain.
Review
This series has been a joy to read. Waid writes both characters well. He captures their qualities effortlessly. Garrón has drawn this series beautifully. Also, yet again, the colors in this book pop from the pages. This series has some of the most engaging art I have seen in comics in recent history. Each issue ended with a cliffhanger and this issue was no different. I like that the series kept them connected because watching them work together is a real treat.
Final Thoughts
This one of the best series I have read this year, if not the best series. Highly recommended.
