Recap

After getting their first taste of combat, the Ironclads realize their construction-class suits aren't suitable for battle. They'll need to add some upgrades before they head after their missing leader. Meanwhile, Peris comes face to face with the Alphan Governor and discovers there may be much more going on than mining Pure on the planet Xeru.

Review

Another great issue! The depth of Armorclads and its lore is growing with each issue. Without spoiling anything, we learn some history of the planet and why people are there, and what they are really looking for.

O’Connor and Buccellato really do a fantastic job of setting everything up. Not only that, but along with the lore, the character growth is something awe-inspiring. Seeing these characters go from slaves to heroes is a wonderful ride, and it’s written so well! These are likable, funny, and powerful characters, and I love all of them so far (which has me worried that some won’t make it). Even the villains’ motivation is an interesting one, one that’s wrapped in legends and history, and I, for one, love this kind of story. While mechanical fighting machines normally don’t interest me, the background of this series has me hooked.

The art by Garcia is also beautiful, the designs for the armors, characters, and landscapes are something every artist and fan should be in awe of. I found myself going back and look at the background of each pan, seeing how vast the world in this series is. The colors by Bellaire also help with this, as they show off the colors of the many different lands they travel in this issue. I love it!

Final Thoughts

I'm for one, so excited for this series to keep growing, and I really can't wait till it all unfolds. What will happen, and what has happened with this world? Those ideas will keep me around.
