Army of Darkness/Bubba Ho-Tep #3
Recap
Having just scored a victory against the nefarious Bubba Ho-Tep, our heroes Ash and 70's-era Elvis take to the skies in the King's private jet, escorting the powerfully destructive Necronomicon Ho-Tep. In order to keep it out of the wrong hands, they must provide the Egyptian artifact safe passage back to Elvis' secure fortress in Graceland. But even at 20,000 feet, evil lurks closer than they realize...as do giant scarabs! It's the penultimate chapter of the year's most groovy crossover event!
Review
With this mini near its end, we are provided with the most exciting and action-packed issue so far. Ash Williams 70’s Elvis, and Egyptian monsters on an airplane makes for a perfect mix of action, comedy, and horror.
This issue was a fun-filled thrill ride as the kings battle all sorts of Egyptian monstrosities while trying to get the Necronomicon Ho-Tep safely to Graceland aboard Elvis’ private jet. From Elvis using giant scarabs as ninja stars to Ash racing up his chainsaw to face a hoard of disfigured beasts, this issue was filled to the brim with exciting action.
Likewise, the art of this issue was a small step up from the first two. Small details and great shadowing made the art really come alive and gave an added level of creepiness to the story’s already grotesque villain.
After the endless action and great art of this issue, I’m excited to see how this series ends. This groovy series is really taking care of business.
Final Thoughts
This issue was great in all ways. A must for any Bruce Campbell fan.
