Review

This was a fun an action-packed ending to a really enjoyable crossover. One that seemed to have a great respect for the source material and excell at transferring the film characters to a different medium.

This issue tied up the series nicely while still maintaining a great level of suspense. Duvall captures Bruce Campbell’s off-brand sense of human (both as Ash Williams as well as the elderly Elvis Presley) to a degree rarely seen outside of Campbell’s films. The lore of both the Evil Dead (Army of Darkness) series and Bubba Ho-Tep was also well represented in this series. Definitely a book for Campbell fans.

The art in this series seemed to improve with each issue and this finale was no exception. From a burning deadite that was once the man pretending to be Elvis, to the accuracy with which Campbell’s characters are depicted and even the mighty Bubba Ho-Tep himself the art in this issue was great and perfect for the story.

If you’re a fan of Campbell or either if these franchises, I would consider this mini a series read. A great depiction of both Ash and the elderly Elvis.

Final Thoughts

An exciting ending to a great mini that shows great respect for the films that inspired it.
