Avengers: Curse of the Man Thing #1

For decades, the Man-Thing has haunted the Florida Everglades. Now a new enemy has hijacked his body on a quest to take his incendiary abilities global! We wake to fear as gargantuan monoliths menace cities worldwide, with only the Avengers standing between the population of Earth and a planetwide inferno. Review
Wow what a comic, this comic has everything I like from superheroes to the supernatural. Orlando excels in creating a great villain for this story. A villain motivated by doing what they feel is correct despite how desperate it may be. A villain that also wants to show those who doubt them that they are right.
This story does a great job in mixing magic and science, with an elegant recap of the Man-Thing and who and what it is that only costs us one page. I enjoyed the Avengers lineup we get in this issue, with a great mix of the scientific characters with the supernatural characters, with fitting ones for this story like Blade or Ghost Rider. The threat that the Avengers are facing is world stretching and unclear as to what is really going on, and who or what could be responsible. It really looks like it may take the Avengers and probably more to set things right. If I have to pick a downside, I would have liked to have seen more of a build up, as it feels like the action just jumps right in, and possibly seen some more exposition with the villain in the beginning since this is the first time we see her.
Mobili’s art in here is fantastic, with a great use of light and shadowing rounded up by GURU-eFX’s colors. It really looks like it is a sunny day in Brooklyn with the use of bright yellow coloring. And the character designs are fantastic. I will say that I miss the intelligent She-Hulk in this book but I know that is not the current continuity and there’s so much I can wish for.
Final Thoughts
Thrilling book! I am saddened I have to wait a month to find out what happens next!!
