Review
Reboots, remakes, what’s old is new again, et cetera. No matter what label you attach, 2026 is breathing new life into 1992, and I’m here for it. Regardless of whether you hate him or love him, Rob Liefeld continues to turn out a product that keeps fans drunk with entertainment and conversations spirited. None more so than his latest offering of cult favorite Badrock!
Thomas McCall was just your average and curious teenage kid, until his curiosity got the better of him. Curiosity, after all, did kill the cat. Or in this case, turn into solid stone! It seems that the Robfather has started Thomas’ reboot in the same neighborhood as the original. At this point in time, I’m starting to think that Mr. & Mrs. McCall are staging their kidnappings! I kid, however, this was a really fun read.
What caught me off-guard (in a good way) was how well Rob’s story worked with another artist. Seth Damoose brought a Saturday Morning Cartoon flavor to a beloved family recipe. Whether capturing Badrock’s rage or his quirky demeanor, Seth has breathed an exciting new life into one of Youngblood’s best. Rob takes a generous helping from previous storylines and adds addictive dialogue. Badrock (26) is gritty and dirty with the right amount of cheese. Think along the lines of Last Action Hero. Perfection.
Final Thoughts
Fun. That is what Badrock #1 is. It’s a fun, quick read, that keeps you entertained and excited for what’s to come.
