Batman and the Outsiders #10: A Day at the Beach

Batman and the Outsiders #10 moves quickly because nothing happens. The one positive is that the Outsiders get a beach day out of it. I always enjoy that Batman and Bruce Wayne are distinctly different characters. Batman’s dialogue with Sophia feels so natural and human while Bruce Wayne sounds strictly business regarding Martina. They both play important roles. Because he knows about Martina, I was hoping he would make an appearance– although Black Lighting in action is pretty cool.

The highlight of the issue was Black Lighting stopping Martina’s car. That happens in a couple panels. Right when things are about to go down and the rest of the team shows up, the issue is over. I am all for buildup in a series, but there wasn’t any buildup. The whole issue revolved around finding out where Ra’s is through Martina. Obviously this issue was just filler, but I found myself skimming pages on multiple occasions. Big picture wise, I can see the importance of this issue, though.
