Recap

Batman has escaped the clutches of the fearsome Scare- wait, what? When? An average night of patrol turns out to be anything but, the big bad bat is in the clutches of the king of fear!

Review

The love letter to the 90s continues with a very routine feeling patrol where Batman goes on patrol, stops some crimes only to discover it’s all in his mind. Scarecrow gassed him last issue and he has been hallucinating all along. Obviously not a super novel concept but it does deliver on the premise of the title. I will also note that this issue was good enough this title is officially on my pull list, first two were impulse buys, consider that a recommendation.

I was absolutely delighted by Batman taking down a grandma loving gangbanger.

The art by Kelley Jones is great and fairly inoffensive to people who dislike the ultra long ears bat-suit like me. It is pretty great seeing all of his classic designs for characters like Bane and Joker. There was one page that didn’t make much sense visually, pictured below.

I will say this issue didn’t hit quite as hard as the first, which is likely just an effect of expectation I forgot this series was coming so the first issue blew me away. it is nice to note that there are no printing errors like those I noted in the first issue.

Final Thoughts

It's nice to see Batman hit people again, strange it took a 90s dream team to get that. Excited for next issue.
