Review
An interesting take on the psyche of Batman turns a wider lens onto the search after last issues night on patrol. I did find it very interesting to see some facets of Batman’s motivation visualized, but i really don’t think we’ve gotten any information we didn’t already know. I’m starting to feel like this mini should have been a pair of prestige books rather than a full 6 issues, and that padding feels evident in this issue.
The art by Kelley Jones does take a couple moments of brilliance, especially where Scarecrow is concerned, but his Bats goes funky a couple of times. Notable is a sequence where Scarecrow asks Batman how he sees himself and for a moment Batman dresses as Superman; it just doesn’t look good.
All in all this series could end next issue, or never finish, and it wouldn’t bother me at all.
Final Thoughts
Getting to the point where the novelty of this series is wearing off and mid mini slump is evident, if next issue isn't better I might not finish this 6 issue series.
