BATMAN: THE ADVENTURES CONTINUE SEASON THREE #1: The Batman The Animated Series Fix You Need

Have you been missing Batman, The Animated Series, and Kevin Conroy and need something new to occupy your time? Then, pick up BATMAN: THE ADVENTURES CONTINUE SEASON THREE #1

The story is not Batman-centric instead focuses on a convict given a chance to make a deal in exchange for information to take down a mob boss. It is nice to get away from the supervillain of the week, for the most part, in this comic and see a slightly more grounded, middle-passed story where the audience gets to play Batman. Just a little!

The art which is reminiscent of the cartoon, struggles with large-scale fight sequences, particularly during the latter part of the comic.  The big fight seemed to have a small piece missing from it, but overall, this is a minor critique of an otherwise fun and straightforward story.

The dialogue is well-written, and each character’s lines feel different. Batman’s interactions with each character are also significant. The comic doesn’t shy away from adding a little humor that is often forgotten in Batman comics and films. It gives just enough fun to humanize Batman and keep him appealing without going too much into other interpretations of the Bat.

Reading this comic, I was transported into the Gotham of the animated series right away; Batman’s dialogue can only be read with the late Kevin Conroy’s voice in your ear.  It feels complete, like it belongs within the continuity of the original show as the  art and the writing carry the energy of Batman the Animated series, although the story is not particularly original or thought-provoking, it’s somewhat predictable.

Overall, It is still an enjoyable ride.
