Review
There’s something special about a story that engulfs you like a hurricane in the middle of the Atlantic. A complete package if you will. Characters, plot, and art all come together in adventurous harmony. Bear Viking Pirate Queen, the new mini-series by Sean Lewis and Jonathan Marks Barravecchia spares no expense with taking the reader on an adventure of the mind with stunning visuals and the familiar prose of Sean Lewis. I’m a huge fan of Sean Lewis, I subscribe to the idea that no long box is complete without his works, and Bear Viking Pirate Queen is no exception.
As the book opens up we are immediately propelled into action without prejudice; non-stop breathtaking action from panel to panel. One of the things I enjoy about Sean’s writing is the fact that he makes the reader a part of the story. You can’t help but invest yourself in his character work while you give in to the plot. While Sean Lewis has you occupied with the story, along comes Jonathan Marks Barravecchia to overtake your senses with unrivaled visuals that act like a foot to the stomach in a mosh pit. Barravecchia makes his Image debut and what a debut it is! Those familiar with his work know what I’m talking about. Bear Viking Pirate Queen is one of those extremely rare occurrences where a book could be silent, and it would stand just as tall.
Final Thoughts
Bear Pirate Viking Queen is a haunting tale that deserves every bit of attention and recognition. You feel every inch of Sean Lewis and Jonathan Marks Barravecchia’s soul in this book.
