Bermuda, a young girl marooned on the mysterious island of TRANGLE (No, not Triangle!) was orphaned as a baby and raised by the kindly Dr. Hito Nakamura, a fellow castaway. Today Bermuda is a 16-year-old girl who survives by her wits as she navigates between dinosaurs, aliens, pirates and more! It's a crazy world-out-of-time… but for Bermuda… it's home.
Review
The Trangle is clearly an island of adventure, and we get right to it. Bobby and Andi Randolph crash on the island and are attacked by lizard men, the Mers. Bobby is saved by our titular hero, Bermuda, but Andi is taken by the Mers setting up a future rescue storyline. The rest of the issue is devoted to world building and character introductions.
The Big Question
Randolph, Inc., is investigating and building dimensional doors. Did the Admiral purposefully send Bobbi and Andi through a door?
The Words
John Layman’s plot and dialogue are enchanting. You’re going to fall for Bermuda as soon as you meet her. Bobby gives us a modern view of what’s happening. The Mers have their own language. Every scene smoothly flows into the next.
The Art
Nick Bradshaw is providing amazing visuals for Bermuda, and he has everything to draw: jets, buildings, lizard men, dinosaurs, insects, jungle scenes and more. The characters are all unique with strong facial expressions. The action is dynamic. The colors by Len O’Grady are vibrant and enhance Nick’s detailed line work.
Between the Panels
We get a little of everything in the first issue of Bermuda. Full splash pages, full splash pages with overlapping panels, regular panels, and characters breaking the panel walls for emphasis on action. Amauri Osorio uses the lettering to give us nice sound effects “Splurth”, yelling/screaming, and customized character speech balloons (I wonder what the Mers were saying). Bermuda #1 is fun to read cover to cover.
World Building
There’s a map of the island. I can’t wait until we visit Piratetown. The Trangle is a dimensional dumping ground. Nick used that concept throughout the issue from the clothes to the environments. There’s a fun mixture of old fashioned and new elements — almost steam-punk in design. You can fully visualize Isle of Trangle after just one issue.

Final Thoughts
When you have art legends Arthur Adams and Dan Panosian drawing alternate covers, you know this comic is going to be something special. Bermuda #1 gives us a strong introduction to the Isle of Trangle. If the rest of the four issue series is this good, it will be over too soon.
