Recap

Black Panther and his Agents of Wakanda are the new back-ups for the Avengers. They go where the Avengers don't have time to go and do what the Avengers can't get around to doing. The last time we checked in with them, they were in the midst of a town that was made up by The Sentry/The Void.

Review

Ooooooh man was this comic good!!

Truth be told, I didn’t have much interest in this title because it looked like they just threw Black Panther in with a random handful of characters so they could get a second Black Panther monthly out. Well, writer Jim Zub had to go and prove me wrong. The team was well-thought-out and comes together pretty organically. Not only that, but it has a deep roster so that Zub has a rotating cast of characters to play with, which is nice because, in books like this, authors feel like they have to have something for every single characters to do. This way, each mission get’s a hand-picked crew to deal with what the problem actually calls for. Fantastic story!!

There is so much I love about artist Lan Medina’s work. It’s very detailed, yet not over-detailed (See the page above). Even though everything is technically a still drawing, all his panels are so kinetic. Even the talking heads panels. He’s got a great knack for tech and anatomy. Overall his storytelling abilities aren’t recognized enough. I hope he bucks the current comics trend and stays with this book past 4 issues. No matter the character in this group that he’s drawing, he does an excellent job.

Final Thoughts

Wow, this was a fun issue!! I liked the story a lot and I was glad that Zub didn't waste time building characters that we're all familiar with. Add to that the amazing art of Medina and this one's totally worth the price of admission!!
