Black Panther and the Agents of Wakanda #6: Meet the Livewires

This issue, author Jim Zub has a great time closing out the first story arc of this fun, new title.  I’m willing to bet money that a lot of comic writers pray that they get assigned a book like this. An established, heavy-hitter hero and a rotating cast of characters that can come and go as you please. There’s a “suggested” supporting cast, but there’s already been a lot of additions to the roster. It’s down to the wire for Black Panther and company (guest-starring Deadpool!) to put down the Livewires (remember them?) and Nick Fury. Zub shows a great understanding of the team dynamic here, portraying not one, but two team leaders as well as one of the most distracting characters in comics. I know it was Adam Warren who did Livewires, but Zub does a great job getting to the core of who they are, and what they want to do. He excels at this and moves the story forward to a satisfying ending, which has some nice characterization moments in the end. I actually wouldn’t mind seeing more of the team that’s been the focus of the last two issues, they make a nice blend of personality types, with none of them ever getting annoying or bothersome. This was a great arc and I am looking very forward to the next issue.

Artist Scot Eaton and inker Sean Parsons crank out another really enjoyable issue. I don’t want to spoil anything, but let’s just say there’s a LOT of robots this issue, and they do an exceptional job rendering them as close to lifelike without crossing the line. There’s also some really great looking nature panels, as well as plenty of fighting with a really high body count and from what I could see, I didn’t notice one out of proportioned limb or strange-looking facial expression or head. Another fantastic issue from the art team.
