Bloodshot and Eidolon are on the run, Bloodshot has freed her from the clutches of Black Bar but what next? Bloodshot is surrounded by enemies even among his allies so where can he turn? Who can he trust? Why isn't Eidolon trying to escape? Just what secrets is she hiding from Bloodshot and Black Bar?
So many questions and little time to find answers as Bloodshot gets some problems of monstrous proportions!
Tim Seeley, what can I say except the man was clearly born to write Bloodshot. Each issue he brings new crazy challenges at Bloodshot while showing a clear and concise handling of what has made Bloodshot such an enduring and interesting character. The fact he does so at such a breakneck pace without mudding the waters just proves he’s the right man for the job but also his love of Bloodshot and his mythos beams through unapologetically.
Issue #7 has one dramatic shift from the previous six issues and not just in the pages: new artist Marc Laming! I gotta say hearing the news Brett Booth would be taking a short absence from issue #7-9 was concerning but the news Laming would be taking over was very welcome. Laming has a stellar grasp on adrenaline pumping action and engrossing art. Being able to dive into a book that has such a high bar set is a big ask for anyone but when a superstar team is killing it on a flagship title like Bloodshot, well let’s just say the pressure is definitely on to perform. Laming takes his turn at bat and just cranks it right outta the park. One can’t help but see his excellent work here and hope that we see it again in something like Ninjak, Killers, or any of a myriad of potential titles his style would be a great boon to.
All that being said it boils down to this: pound for pound you will not find a better action/adventure book on the market. Accept no substitutes.
Bloodshot #7 is a reminder of when you do something this well even minor shifts in the status quo can't phase it. The character development of Mina alone makes this worth a read plus KAIJU!!!
