Cable #01

Recap
When you think of a Cable solo title, you may think action, big guns, possibly lack of drawn feet depending on what era you started to read. However this is a new take on Cable, this is a fresh take on a younger Cable. Bable (Baby Cable = Bable) if you will), who knew what adventure we the readers would be taken on. We start off with hand-to-hand combat against Wolverine, followed by a small rescue mission, to a psych trip to space crabs.
Review
Whenever I think of Cable I think of the 90’s big action, big guns Cable. This isn’t the Cable we all knew in the 90s but the Teenage version of the son of Cyclops. I was pretty excited about the title, but I also had reservations, as this isn’t the story of “my Cable.”
Now that I have read it, I can honestly ask what did I just read. I found it kind of hard to believe that Cable was able to beat Logan (even if he cheated). Then we jump to a small rescue which brought in a giant monster with a sword in his paw, which leads to a psychic trip to space adventures and the return of ‘OG’ Cable.
As a reviewer, I felt like the story was a little all over the place. Also as a reviewer, it was fun. I had no idea where the story was going. It took us on a few adventures in a small amount of time. As a fan, I am into it and want to find out more. The end sold me on the adventure. The story was all over the place but it brought it all together with the final panel, which was pretty crafty writing.
The art is stellar. We have Phil Noto on the artwork it’s naturally going to be clean and crisp smooth art that can make anything gorgeous. I also really love the cover art. The cover has an 80s retro pin-up poster feel which really is gorgeous down to the smallest detail.
Overall I am into the story. I am looking forward to seeing where the creative team takes us.
