Catwoman #25: Familiar moves

Ram V jumps onto the Catwoman title beginning with this extra-sized anniversary issue and whilst the book doesn’t prove to be bold or push boundaries it’s the simplicities and the writers clear love and understanding of the main character is one that lays a marker down early to excite fans that Catwoman is in very capable hands!

Three stories, each containing admirable traits of Selinas character to accumulate a little bit of everything packed into one issue for every fan to get on board with!

The first is our tie-in to Joker War in which we see a classic like scene of Catwoman outsmarting some of the smartest in Batmans rogues gallery, another compliment to the writing of both The Riddler and Penguin as they are captured effortlessly, especially in correlation with the Joker War event. Selina revealing how she one-upped the villain’s right through to her heart-warming moment clarifying how she wants the Underbrokers money split are key points to be taken from this reminding fans when written like this how capable our lead role can truly be. Uniting that with the enthralling artwork of Blanco throughout this book especially in the seemingly flashback scenes featuring a tiger which open this book that entices the reader to dive into the issue.

With that chapter is now tied up which leads to the second half of the issue breaking up into two tales indicating the new direction the book will go with Selina returning to Alleytown buying over The Nest run by her former mentor in the past Mama Fortuna, also while taking on young inexperienced thieves under her own wing. More credit to be given here on how well written this veteran Selina is flexing her talents panel to panel through these short stories which are commendably captured by the artists involved to the delight of the fans.
