What You Need To Know:

Scott Lang was born and raised in Coral Gables, FL, the son of Bob Lang. He later became an electronic engineer and met and married Peggy Rae.  Together they had a daughter, Cassandra “Cassie” Lang.

Although he was an electronics expert he could not support his family doing repair work, so he turned his talents to burglary. Apprehended, he served his prison sentence and was paroled for good behavior. During his time in prison, however, Peggy divorced him. Lang had furthered his studies of electronics while in prison and was soon hired by Stark International to work in its design department.

What You’ll Find Out:

Fighting CTE security guards, Scott Lang, donned as Ant-Man, wonders how he got into this predicament.

Recently paroled after serving time for burglary, Scott is excited about his new job at Stark International and especially being a father once again to his daughter, Cassie.  Unfortunately, she develops a rare heart disease which drains Scott’s financial resources making him consider a return to crime.

Learning of Dr. Erica Sondheim’s experimental approach to heart surgery he determines to find her.  When he does, he sees the doctor being abducted by several men, including an unseen figure with an oversized hand.  Tracing them to Cross Technical Enterprises, he is disheartened at being able to break into such a secure complex.

Desperate to get some quick money, he burglarizes – it just so happens – the home of Dr. Henry Pym.  Instead of finding cash or jewels, he uncovers the scientist’s old Ant-Man suit.  Curious to put it on, Scott quickly masters the shrinking technology and the cybernetic helmet which enables him to talk to ants.  Breaking into Cross Technical Enterprises, he finds Dr. Sondheim finishing a surgical operation.

Back in the present, the fledgling hero quickly dispatches the last of his foes when he is confronted with the giant mutated form of Darren Cross.

Marvel Premiere #47 features the first appearance of Scott Lang as Ant-Man in the Marvel Universe.  Dividing his time between costumed heroics and his family responsibilities, Ant-Man worked alongside several superheroes, aiding members of the Avengers and The Fantastic Four.
