What You Need to Know:
Kevin and Miranda take their enchanted Station wagon through the mists that are full of Red Caps. To be frank, Kevin is pissed off and looking for his son. And maybe a bit upset they hit him with a cannon and escaped with Hugo, two issues ago.

Kevin takes out the horde of Red Caps with Excalibur (His Bat) and leaves the leader standing long enough to ask where they took his son, and for whom they were working for. He does not get the answer he was looking for and unfortunately it does not go well for the Red Cap.

What You’ll Find Out:
The Lady Grackleflints are all gathered together and discussing the state of their Mother the Umbra Sprite. She seems to have been changed by a recent magical episode. They discuss the prisoners Magda and Hugo, what’s to be done and who is in charge in case the Sprite is out of commission. Business one is to locate Kevin Matchstick and complete their plan to locate the Fisher King. Luckily they know that Kevin will most likely come to them.

Kevin and Miranda try to find a safe space for Miranda. They make the drive to Magda’s sister the witch Isis. Her Home is Much bigger on the inside after all.

Isis is not an adequate Babysitter for Miranda, as she cannot focus enough to even feed herself these days. Unfortunately, Kevin has to take Miranda with him as he attempts a rescue mission for his wife and son. Could be useful to have a tiny Witch around.

What Just Happened?

Hugo and Magda are starving! There is a feast that was set out for them by the Umbra Sprite. They cannot eat the good looking food on the top tiers, because it is Fairy Food. Fairy Food is a trap, and if they consume anything but the bottom of the plates, they will never be able to leave the Fairy Realm. So they make do with the dregs on the bottom of the serving platter. (Bonus for the Appearance of Kirby dots around the Food!)

Although Hugo is told not to eat from any other tier because he will not be able to leave, he is unable to resist a Midnight Snack.

Final Thought: This is an issue of Kevin getting all of his stuff in order before a huge climactic battle. I imagine  Miranda has yet a part to play. Funny on how she has to tag along. Bad time to be a Red Cap though. This seemed very much to me like the Matrix, where Neo Beat back an army of Agent Smith’s. An enjoyable always appreciate the story that is built upon in layers. It is like a little reward for those readers that are keeping up month to month. There are a lot of tiebacks in Wagner’s writing to previous series and books. I just love his art style as well. More so than any of his work, I feel that Mage captures that makes storyteller. It’s the way he connects the threads that make this such a complete story.
