Recap

Andromeda shouldn’t be alive, and the galaxy has questions!

Review

Comics are fun, and so is Corollary. Written by Adam Rose, colors by Robert Ahmad and Gabby Metzler, and letters by DC Hopkins, this creative team takes us to the farthest reaches of the galaxy for a great sci-fi romp with enough twists and turns to keep the reader wanting more. What pulled me in was the basis of the Corollary, if your double dies, then so do you. So what makes Andromeda so different? Relax, I hate spoilers, so we won’t have any here.

After the unfortunate death of Andromeda’s sister, she has become a legend of sorts within the galaxy as to how she has somehow survived. Taking the odd job here and there to make ends meet, such as an intergalactic veterinarian. Yes, a veterinarian that assists with a birth of a space-dino that has a floating city on its back! As the story grows and we get to know Andromeda, we begin to realize she has more on her plate than simply surviving and learning how to overcome her sister’s passing. One of my favorite things about this book is the pacing.

The way Adam Rose weaves the flashbacks with current times with great precision. The reveals hit like a ten-ton hammer each time you read them. I read Corollary multiple times before writing the review, and the book continues to be exciting and fresh, just like the first time. Robert Ahmad, Gabby Metzler, and DC Hopkins come through with a visual vengeance that is absolutely stunning. The entire layout is gorgeous in such a way that if this was a silent book, it would still be a must-own for sci-fi fans.

Final Thoughts

I love when a creator comes out of left field with concepts like this that reinforce what I mentioned earlier. Comics are fun, and Corollary is no exception to that. It's a great feeling when a book commands to be read over and over again and makes you want to talk about it. Rose, Ahmad, Metzler, and Hopkins deliver a clever and beautiful story.
