Review
This book is silly. It’s whimsical. It’s chock-full of a parody and slapstick. It is, in many ways, exactly what I expected from a book of its caliber. The surface is shiny with beautiful Nauck art throughout rendering warped renditions of the stories that made us fall in love with comics. But at its heart lie the sequences where Frank gets to be with his family.
Frank is a tortured soul but in this incarnation, he has moved beyond the survivors guilt and self-abuse into something new. He is afforded a shot at redemption, atonement, or perhaps simply acceptance. He has the chance to explain himself to his lost family and for all the hi-jinks and toilet humor one would expect from this series, that chance– that small sliver of hope– makes this book worth the price of admission.
Final Thoughts
Cosmic Ghost Rider Destroys Marvel History #2 continues to surprise me by blending the lowest forms of comedy with a heartfelt tale of redemption and atonement.
