Recap

We pick up after Amigo has killed a man who was trying to kill the doctor in issue one. The doctor is in shock, like anyone would, but it does sober him up somewhat to know he has to make a move. But what will their next move be?

Review

I like the way this issue is structured. It’s kind of all over the place. We start with the immediate aftermath and the panic of the doctor, who is grateful to be alive but confused about what to do next. Amigo just sat there calmly and told the doctor what to do. The doctor in some ridiculously low Daisy Dukes. I might have dated myself there, but I don’t care. Those shorts are short, and he looks like a character from the movie “The Hangover”. Which was the point here. But I like how Amigo is leading without saying a word. It complements the franticness of the doctor great.

Before I continue, I like the art for this issue. The colors clash with each scene very well. The shade over Amigo goes well with his calm. The red and darkness over the doctor go well with him being all over the place. One minute he didn’t know what to do with a dead body. The next, he is telling a journalist that he did not poop himself and that part must be taken out of the interview, or he will not continue because Amigo is lying. Even though Amigo admits he is lying, that is not good enough. It is just so ridiculous but hilarious at the same time.

Overall, this issue is a good way of bringing us new characters that will be involved in the story later. As well as us getting to know the main characters better and their motivation or lack of motivation in the doctor’s case. I am interested in seeing how these two main characters mesh with the rest of the world. After reading this issue and the way the writers left it, we are supposed to assume the doctor always gets in trouble. Panics, and then Amigo brings him back to earth, but I think everything the doctor does is with intention, and the swerve is that he is fully aware of what he is doing and why he is doing it. Amigo, on the other hand, gives me complete Treach from Naughty by Nature vibes. He does his dirt on his own, and when we find out what he is doing, it will shake the story up. Either way, I am excited to read more about this world.

Final Thoughts

Issue two wraps up nicely with a press conference where the doctor gives a great impression of being emotional, but the questions are unavoidable, and the media is making it known they are not going to back down. That is something else to look for in this story, and I will be here for it.
