Criminal #3

Recap
A comic creator goes criminal when a veteran creator pays Ricky Lawless to help him steal some old art.
Review
A really interesting issue with some interesting revelations towards the end and a rare sighting of Tracy Lawless’ younger brother Ricky. This 2 issue story is extremely out of place within the Criminal series yet fits right in to the outlaw spirit by the end. I did catch some fun references after a couple readings and the big bombshell (for me) of the narrators identity was a huge anchor tying this firmly within the universe.
This issue does hold my assertion in one of my reviews that Sean Phillips could draw basically anything and entertain me. The most basic panel is still extremely interesting and worthy of praise, and part of that is the coloring by Sean’s son Jacob Phillips, who has been contributing sketches in the backs of the books for some time. I believe this is Jacob’s first credited work and I feel this book is in capable hands.
I adored the reveal of the source of Hal’s great trauma, it was brilliant and I won’t reveal it. I also loved this panel, which basically describes my life:
Final Thoughts
I love this series.
