Daredevil #10
Recap
Matt visits the precinct at the exact moment the dirty cops make their move to assassinate Cole North, holy crap it's good! Also the affair between Matt and Mindy seems to simultaneously intensify and pull back following an arson attempt at the bookstore. This issue is can't miss!
Review
Woooooow the tension between North and his fellow officers reaches a startling crescendo in the wake of the death of Cole’s partner who was severely beaten last issue as a warning against his actions. In the wake of Matt’s intervention it seems like North is beginning to see why Matt wears a mask.
i do feel the extramarital affair has reached a possible end with this firebombing Matt says it himself it’s not like he’s going to marry her and raise her kid. What he’s doing is irresponsible which works out perfectly when we get to the end, hell of a cliffhanger!
The art makes an interesting change with artist Jorge Fornes coming on, with the most striking change being a constant undercurrent of sound effects, giving a reader a taste of the confusion in Matt’s day to day. The fight scene is amazing with North holding his own against a dozen or so dirty cops before Matt intervenes in his bedsheet mask. So super cool the way the action flows. Fornes’ art is an ideal fit for this book with a pulpy style that almost gives a noir feel to the very un-noir proceedings of the issue. Fantastic.
One thing that does impress me about this issue is despite containing a huge action scene, it isn’t just a fight amd there is some nuance and intrigue present in several subplots. This issue will warrant repeat readings once the entire story unfolds I think.
Final Thoughts
This is a fantastic issue. I don't give 10/10s but this issue made me consider it.
