Review

If you haven’t gotten this book yet, please stop reading this and go to your local comic store and grab it. Seriously, you’re truly missing out on something great. I’ll be honest, this is the best that Daredevil has been in years. Years. I’m not exaggerating, either. This whole arc has been so powerful, author Chip Zdarsky really knows how to move pieces around the chessboard. He’s strategically placed characters all over the place and set them there to simmer, and now they’ve all started to boil over simultaneously. I never thought I would care so much about some of these characters, but I sure do now. Zdarsky manages to throw a whole lot of Daredevil villains into Hell’s Kitchen to see what happens and I was really pleasantly surprised by the results and I think you will be too.  Almost every character is shown and given just the right amount of attention. This issue is ended with a real holy $#!% moment that we’ve been begging for, for almost a year. You’re gonna be really happy that you’re reading this book.

At first, it took a little getting used to artist Marco Checchetto, but now I’m so totally on board with this guy. His art is incredible and so is his storytelling. He’s got a slightly realistic style, that skews far from the traditional comic book style, but no so far that it’s unrecognizable. I think that this is probably the best style for Daredevil, as just like this art, he’s something that’s grounded in reality.

Final Thoughts

This issue was my favorite issue of Daredevil that I've read in a very long time. The creative team gets him back to his roots without losing the progress that the character has made through the years.
