Review
DC vs. Vampires: World War V #4 begins to answer many questions that have arisen in this latest installment of the story that follows the ongoing struggle between the remaing remnants of humanity and the superhero/supervillain’s turn bloodsucker.
The issue answers the question of who the new person running around in the Bat Suit, a revelation that leads to a confrontation with the new weilder of the Green Lantern ring. This revelation moves Damian’s role in the larger story along and leads to a cliffhanger that doesn’t bode well for him.
Scott Free and his attempts to keep his daughter safe also plays a major part in this issue as he is hunted and eventually found by the vampiric heroes and villains looking to deliver him and his daughter to Granny Goodness.
The issue also reveals that Barbara, the vampire Queen is not yet dead, though close, and the internal power struggle amongst the Vampires continues. Also finally appearing are Supergirl, Steel, and Lobo, whose arrival has yet to explain where they have been since the previous installment of the larger story. Jayna also shows up looking like she is dressed as a nun.
The backup story funds Black Lightning traveling across the country looking for his family after receiving a note from them which could be truth or a trap. It’s a nice touch that he mentions that Batman had obscure Batcaves locations that he is able to use on his cross country trek. It will be interesting to see how this story plays out and how and if it plays into the larger story
