DC's Very Merry Multiverse #1
Recap
It's Holiday Time in all 52 Earths in the DC Multiverse!!
Review
It’s that time of year again!!! No matter what you celebrate, it’s the holiday season and I think we’re all glad that 2020 is almost in the rearview mirror. BUT before we walk out that door, DC gives us a pretty cool present that you’re not gonna want to return for store credit! A brand-new Booster Gold short story written by author Brittany Holzherr, who really has a grasp on not only the character of Booster Gold but knows what a Booster story should consist of.
Her story is so great it could almost be an “untold tale” from the classic Dan Jurgens run. This isn’t the bumbling time-traveler who can’t ever be seen by anybody, this is the swashbuckling hero from the future but nobody knows it, Booster Gold. He’s maybe not where you’d expect him to be, but he’s soooooooo true to form here that it almost made me feel like I was 13 years old again. At the heart of the story, it’s a feel-good holiday story that’s full of everything Christmas is about.
With Todd Nauck on art, the story’s not too shabby to look at, either. I’ve honestly wanted Nauck to draw a Booster Gold story for a long time, now and it was worth the wait. Nauck’s art has a certain energy about it. That of fun, even when things are deadly serious. He gives us a fantastic splash page and even better sequential pages. We get a lot of great-looking action that’s easy to follow and fits right in place here. Nothing stands out, it all looks great.
Final Thoughts
I can't speak for the rest of the book, you'll have to check out comic-watch.com for the reviews of the other stories, but if you want to read a great Booster Gold story, this is the place you need to look!
