Review

The second installment of Justin Jordan’s Dead Body Road: Bad Blood comes out of the gates raging mad like a tiger that has been caged. We got our first glimpse of Bree Hale in the first issue of Bad Blood and ultimately knew she was a force to be reckoned with and it was only a matter of time before saw her unleashed on the world and with issue 2, we saw just that.

Justin Jordan continues his adrenaline-fueled story with such grace and he only gives you what you need, as you need it. Issue 2 opens with the sheriff investigating the trail that Bree has left them in her search for Sinclair. Justin Jordan could have easily pushed us in the pool and gave us Bree right off the bat, but instead decided to give us more building blocks for the story and by the time we see Bree shoot people and set fire to buildings we are absolutely cheering her and craving more Bree!

Benjamin Tiesma brings this book to life with dirty, gritty, and clever visuals that jump out of every panel. From charred skeletal remains to burning buildings, you feel Tiesma’s art punch you right in the face and just walk away without apologizing and that is exactly what this story needs. Now if that wasn’t enough here come Mat Lopes and Pat Brosseau with colors and letters to add another artistic layer of mind-blowing eye candy that rounds out this tale of vigilante justice. With how Jordan writes this story and Tiesma’s art and how they complement one another on this action-packed book that poses the question: What would happen if Sarah Connor worked at the Double Deuce?

Final Thoughts

This book is fun and is the kind of book that is the perfect form of escapism from the current state of the world. Justin Jordan creates a cool world with awesome characters. If you like your comics with fire, bullets, and awesome characters than Dead Body Road: Bad Blood is just the book you should be reading.
