Review

Brisson is first and foremost a character writer. His ability to craft a distinct voice for various characters is his greatest strength. His voice for Sin is particularly interesting in this issue as she simultaneously projects the actions of a petulant child while also possessing a deep understanding of her role as the Daughter of the Red Skull and the shadow of legacy her father casts upon her.

Also of note in this issue is a recurring trend in the figure of Old Man Logan as, essentially, an addict. Since his inception, Old Man Logan has been frequently depicted as relentless, unwilling to stray from the course he has set himself upon, be that revenge, protection, or as we’re beginning to see, a pattern of drug abuse.

“I promise myself this is the last time.” The epithet of addicts everywhere. Given the opportunity to return to his home to live out his final days (Forge showed him the repaired time machine in this issue), Logan’s addict behaviors do not allow him to simply do so. His mission to stop Mysterio from ever being able to execute “the plan” cannot be turned away and the use of regenix in his weakened state attaches itself to his addiction.

Final Thoughts

Dead Man Logan #2 delivers on the promise laid out by #1 as a series worthy of saying farewell to a character that has become a favorite for many fans over the past several years. Brisson and Henderson have incredible synergy.
