Recap

Under Mysterio's influence, the worst appears primed to happen as Logan has been duped into believe he is fighting the Sinister Six instead of his friends in the Avengers, just as he was in his own timeline where he murdered the X-Men.

In the penthouse above, enjoying the view of the carnage, Sin, Crossbones, Mysterio and Ms. Sinister bicker over the execution of their plans for world domination. As Ms. Sinister grows wary of her partner's impatience and failure to see a "bigger picture", she storms out only to be met in the hallway by "Sin" for some much needed chiding.

Sinister explains that in the original plan, Mysterio was killed after he played his role in order to prevent him from pulling the same trick on the villains, except in all her infinite wisdom, Sinister never realizes that she's actually talking to Mysterio, who upon realizing his impending fate, abandons the illusion, allowing the X-Men to collect their misguided friend.

Review

Brisson expertly blends comedy and action in his writing on a regular basis, and Dead Man Logan is no exception. Even faced with a “worst case scenario”, Brisson’s writing never allows the reader to sink into despair, whether that comes from an appearance by Glob or a few kind words from Hawkeye. Fans of Jubilee will rejoice at this issue as Wolverine’s old 90s sidekick not only gets to be the voice of reason but also stares down Captain America and wins!

Henderson’s artwork is perfectly suited to both the action sequences as well as the lighter moments, striking a perfect balance between light and dark. The colors and lettering on this book continue to be phenomenal. All said and done, I am loving the direction this series is taking as we count down our days with Old Man Logan.

Final Thoughts

Dead Man Logan vs The Avengers, in a crossover that Captain America and Jubilee assure us "nobody wants" but still was executed wonderfully!
