Finally, after all of his adventures in the past, Old Man Logan returns to the Wastelands. Seven years have passed since he last was home but little seems to have changed in the hellscape that is the "Old Man Logan" future.
Starting out in the Lizard's Kingdom down in good old Florida, Logan quickly makes his presence known by hacking parts off a bunch of thugs and stealing their truck to go on a road trip west!
It isn't long, however, before Logan falls into a trap and finds himself captured by some well-meaning cannibals ecstatic over the prospect of regenerating meat. With his healing factor already taxed to the max, he is forced to wait until the cavalry arrives-- Dani Cage and Bruce Jr..
As they set out to continue the journey westward, a familiar old face latches onto Logan's trail in Florida.
Review
The first five issues of this series were littered with comedic timing and grand gestures, typical of Brisson’s writing style as I’ve seen so far. The sixth issue shed the humor to deliver a powerful tale of regrets and farewells. With this seventh issue, though, we truly begin to see the depth of Brisson’s range as a writer as this issue turns to extremely dark comedy with horror elements.
Even in the gore and horror of Logan’s encounter with the cannibals, there seems to be a glimmer of reality shining through. These people, made into monsters, do what it takes to survive in a barren wasteland. There is no real sense of cruelty driving them. They praise Logan as a sort of savior even as they cut into him for their next meal. There is certainly something to be said here for the cannibals being a perfect metaphor for the entirety of the Wastelands. It is a land that devours, body and soul, and spits out the bones. This was an excellently crafted issue and Henderson’s artwork continues to match the pitch and tone of the series beautifully.

Return to the Wastelands with Dead Man Logan #7 for a wonderfully crafted tale of dark humor and snacktimes.
